Bar Manager

General Summary

We are looking for an experienced and dynamic Bar Manager to join our team at The Main Event, a premier event venue specializing in weddings and corporate events. The Bar Manager will oversee all bar operations, ensuring the delivery of exceptional service, maintaining high standards of quality, and driving the overall success of the beverage program. This role requires strong leadership, a deep understanding of mixology, and the ability to create an outstanding guest experience.

Roles and Responsibilities

Leadership and Management:

  • Supervise and lead the bar staff, including bartenders and barbacks, ensuring a cohesive and efficient team.

  • Train, mentor, and develop staff, providing ongoing feedback and performance evaluations to foster growth and maintain high service standards.

  • Schedule and manage shifts, ensuring adequate coverage for all events and maximizing staff efficiency.

  • Monitor and enforce adherence to company policies, procedures, and standards by all bar staff.

Beverage Program Management:

  • Oversee the creation and maintenance of a diverse and appealing beverage menu, including cocktails, wine, beer, and non-alcoholic options.

  • Collaborate with event coordinators to customize beverage offerings based on the unique needs of each event.

  • Maintain expert knowledge of current industry trends and incorporate innovative ideas to enhance the guest experience.

  • Manage relationships with vendors and suppliers, negotiating contracts and ensuring timely and accurate deliveries.

Operations and Compliance:

  • Ensure the bar is fully stocked and organized, with all equipment in proper working order.

  • Conduct regular inventory checks, manage ordering processes, and maintain accurate records of stock levels and usage.

  • Oversee the cleanliness and sanitation of the bar area, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.

  • Implement and enforce responsible alcohol service practices, including monitoring guest intoxication levels and checking identification.

Guest Experience and Relationship Management:

  • Interact with guests in a welcoming and professional manner, ensuring a positive and memorable experience.

  • Handle guest concerns or complaints promptly and professionally, resolving issues to the satisfaction of the client.

  • Collaborate closely with event planning and operations teams to ensure seamless execution of events, aligning the bar service with the overall event vision.

Financial Management:

  • Manage bar budgets, track expenses, and optimize costs without compromising service quality.

  • Analyze sales data to identify trends, increase revenue, and manage profit margins effectively.

  • Prepare reports on bar performance, inventory, and financials, providing insights to management for strategic decision-making.

Qualifications For Position

  • Proven experience as a Bar Manager or in a similar role within a fast-paced, high-volume hospitality environment, preferably in events or venues.

  • In-depth knowledge of mixology, beverage presentation, and responsible alcohol service practices.

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively.

  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a dynamic environment.

  • Solid understanding of health, safety, and sanitation regulations related to bar operations.

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on event schedules.

  • Proficiency in inventory management and cost control practices.
